Capiz State University (CAPSU) received high commendation from the Department of Energy (DOE) after obtaining a five-star rating (98.89%) following the agency’s visit, spot checks, and energy audits conducted in line with the implementation of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP).

The result was formally conveyed to CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan on May 13 at the Office of the University President, Central Administration Building, CAPSU Roxas City Main Campus.

This achievement reflects the University’s commitment to implementing energy efficiency and conservation measures in support of the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for government agencies and state universities and colleges (SUCs) to promote the efficient and judicious utilization of energy.

The DOE auditors who conducted and evaluated the University’s compliance were Engr. Lourdes S. Arciaga, Engr. Ricster Joy B. Plaza, and Engr. John Dale M. Quiñones.

The successful outcome of the evaluation was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Engr. Ezekiel A. Magbanua, Planning Officer I and Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Coordinator, together with Engr. Ramsey Bercades, Planning Officer I and EEC Officer, who spearheaded CAPSU’s compliance initiatives and coordinated the University’s energy efficiency and conservation efforts.

Under the DOE program, GEMP serves as a government-wide initiative aimed at reducing the monthly consumption of electricity and fuel through the implementation of energy efficiency and conservation measures, including the adoption of renewable energy systems as alternative sources of electricity. | via Atty.
