The Capiz State University (CAPSU) community, led by University President Dr. Efren L. Linan, warmly welcomed Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Dr. Michelle Aguilar Ong on March 23 at the Dadivas Gymnasium, CAPSU Roxas City Main Campus.

The visit marked Commissioner Ong’s first engagement with CAPSU and her initial visit to the Province of Capiz, as she carried out her mandate to monitor state universities and colleges (SUCs) under her jurisdiction. During her visit, she also attended the 1st Quarter Hybrid Board Meeting in her capacity as Chair-Designate of the CAPSU Board of Regents (BOR).

In her address, Dr. Ong underscored the vital role of students as catalysts for change, urging them to become proactive agents of transformation and to create meaningful impact within the University and in their respective communities.

A highlight of the welcome ceremony was the unveiling of six transformative projects aligned with the University’s mission of inclusive and responsive education. These include the Parent Access to Growth through Inclusive, Balanced, and Innovative Guidance (PAG-IBIG) Project; Project Padayon: Goodwill-Honesty Shop and Community Pantry; Project Panubli; Taliambong; Paglaum Project; and the Paghanas Project: A three-year Faculty and Staff Development Program. All initiatives aim to support students, faculty, and staff who may be facing academic and professional challenges across CAPSU’s campuses and satellite colleges.

The projects were presented by Prof. Jumar Q. Apoyo, Chairperson of CAPSU Sigma Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Office.

The ceremony was further enlivened by performances from the CAPSU Main Chorale (CMC) and the CAPSU Main Dance Troupe (CMDT).

Dr. Ong was accompanied by Ms. Happy S. Pelayo, Chief of Staff of the Office of CHED Commissioner Michelle Aguilar Ong.

Present also during the event were the University’s vice presidents, directors and heads of offices, campus administrators, college satellite directors, members of the Board of Regents, and valued partners of the featured projects. | via Marco Jeslie B. Tuazon, CAPSU-PIO
