Capiz State University (CAPSU) lit up its 22nd University Day celebration with a dazzling gala night that brought together faculty and staff from across its campuses and satellite colleges. It was a night to remember, filled with laughter, recognition, and a shared sense of pride in being part of the CAPSU community.

The evening began with an opening prayer, followed by a welcome message from University President Dr. Efren L. Linan, who expressed his delight at seeing employees in their vibrant ASEAN traditional attire and thanked everyone for their cooperation in making the event possible. In his message, he reminded the audience of what truly defines the institution, saying, “The true strength of our university, is not only found in its structures or even its achievement, it is also found in its people.” He also took the opportunity to recognize the university’s four vice presidents and commend the collective efforts of the entire CAPSU system.

Setting a lively and personal tone, Prof. Jumar Q. Apoyo of Sigma Satellite College led the Pagpakilala, a meet-and-greet activity done in a fun sing-and-dance format. Participants were encouraged to roam around the Civic Center, find partners, and interact with colleagues from across the CAPSU system while answering general questions flashed on the LED wall about themselves and their life in CAPSU. It turned into an energetic icebreaker that got everyone moving, laughing, and genuinely connecting.

One of the main highlights of the evening was the Faculty and Employee Performance, which took the form of a ballroom dancing competition. Divided into ten groups, participants showcased their grace, rhythm, and teamwork on the dance floor, drawing cheers and applause from the audience.

In between performances, recognition was given to campuses and individuals who exemplified excellence. Tapaz Satellite College was acknowledged as the satellite college with the highest number of attendees, while Roxas City Main Campus led among the campuses.

Elegance and cultural pride took center stage in the ASEAN Traditional Attire segment, where Burias Campus swept both the male and female categories with their standout ensembles.

The university also honored outstanding personnel whose dedication continues to make a difference. Dr. Emie Batuigas, Librarian of Roxas City Main Campus, was named Staff of the Year, while Dr. Warren Celoso, also from Roxas City Main Campus, was recognized as Faculty of the Year.

In the ballroom dancing competition, Roxas City Main Campus emerged as champion, followed by Dayao Satellite College as first runner-up and Mambusao Satellite College as second runner-up. Their performances reflected not only skill, but also the vibrant spirit of collaboration within the CAPSU system.

Institutional achievements were likewise recognized, with Pontevedra Campus named Best Campus for Fiscal Year 2025 and Poblacion Mambusao earning the title of Best Satellite College.

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere were the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Vizur-Ty C. Gaitano, Director of the Civil Service Commission Field Office in Capiz, and Engr. Nerio V. Harion, President of the CAPSU Alumni Association. Warm greetings also came through video messages from Cong. Ivan Howard A. Guintu, Cong. Jane T. Castro, and Cong. Nathaniel M. Oducado, who extended their congratulations to the university.

As the formal program eased into the evening’s social segment, dinner was served and the celebration continued with live performances by the CAPSU Main Band and selected employees, keeping the energy high and the crowd engaged.

The gala night closed with music, dancing, and shared moments that strengthened bonds across campuses. More than just a celebration, it became a reflection of the people behind the university’s success, a dazzling gathering that truly lived up to being a night to remember. | via Ralph Gerard M.
