Proud retirees of Capiz State University (CAPSU) gathered in a heartfelt reunion on March 19 at the Dadivas Gymnasium of the Roxas City Main Campus as they took part in the Retirees’ Day program, one of the highlights of CAPSU’s 22nd University Day celebration.
The program opened with a welcome message from Dr. Salvacion J. Legaspi, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages, who emphasized the invaluable contributions of retirees in shaping CAPSU into the institution it is today.
“Behind every thriving university are individuals whose efforts often go unseen but whose impact is immeasurable—our retirees are among those remarkable individuals. Through decades of commitment, early mornings of preparation, long hours of service, and unwavering devotion to duty, you have helped build not only an institution, but a community of learning,” Dr. Legaspi said.
CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan, represented by Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, Vice President for Administration and Finance, also conveyed his message of gratitude and appreciation, recognizing the retirees’ enduring legacy of service.
The event featured a series of engaging activities, including talent presentations by retirees from across the CAPSU system, allowing them to reminisce and celebrate shared experiences through the years.
CAPSU Retirees Association President Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo likewise delivered a message and presented the association’s accomplishments, along with its upcoming plans and programs. This was followed by the closing message of Dr. Emmanuel Perez, Vice President of the Retirees Association.
A highlight of the event was the donation of medical textbooks by Mr. Kiril Benliro, an alumnus of CAPSU Pilar Satellite College and Vice President of World Cultural Foundation Inc., which were formally turned over to Prof. Davidica L. Avelino.
The retirees also joined a unity dance led by Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) students from the Main Campus.
In the afternoon, the retirees participated in a meaningful outreach activity at the Home for the Aged.
This year’s Retirees’ Day was organized by the Office of the Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages, through the Alumni and Community Affairs Office headed by Prof. Davidica L. Avelino.
