Iloilo City, Philippines – The Capiz State University (CAPSU) students showcased their skills at the 2025 Regional Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Convention and Data Festival for Region VI – Western Visayas, held on September 23–24, 2025 at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City.

The event was organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) with the theme: “Building Agile, Resilient and Future-Ready Filipino Communities through Data-Driven Systems.”

Representing CAPSU are the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students from the College of Management of the Roxas City Main Campus. They are mentored by Prof. Rommel B. Sario and Prof. Marvielin Doce, both faculty members of the College of Management.

The students bagged the awards on the following categories:

Pre-Event Contests:

StatisTiktok Making Contest: 3rd Place – Alanis Icon De Tomas and Team

StatShots: Telling Stories through Data and Lenses: 2nd Place – Maekayla C. Lara

On-the-Spot Contests:

PSA Survey Says: 1st Place – Carl Joshua Elauria; 2nd Place – Germie Louise Maruzzo

Report It Right: The Data Reporting Contest: 3rd Place – Ice Gero Noel Dorde

The two-day convention gathered participants from LGUs, national government agencies, SUCs, LUCs, and private HEIs across Western Visayas. It aimed to foster collaboration and innovation in the use of CBMS data to drive sustainable and inclusive development.

The students’ achievement highlights the university’s commitment to academic excellence, research engagement, and active participation in nation-building through data-driven initiatives.
