The Dadivas Auditorium of Capiz State University (CAPSU) Roxas City Main Campus was filled with architecture students from the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) as it hosted the Capiz Provincial Government’s Awarding Ceremony for the winners of the Architectural Design Competition on March 9, 2026.

Representing CAPSU President Efren L. Linan, Vice President Annalie G. Campos delivered a message highlighting the continuing partnership between the University and the provincial government in recognizing creativity and celebrating initiatives that contribute to learning, innovation, and service.

“May this gathering inspire meaningful conversations, strengthen partnerships, and encourage all of us to continue working together toward sustainable progress for the Province of Capiz,” Dr. Campos said.

The awarding ceremony was graced by Hon. Fredenil H. Castro, Governor of Capiz, who also delivered an inspirational message underscoring the remarkable talents of CAPSU students and the people of the province. Alongside members of the jury who evaluated the entries, he led the conferment of awards for the 3D Walkable Topographic Map and Agora de Capiz/Agora Forum Plaza design competitions.

Among the nine groups, the competition was dominated by the Group 1, composed of Irish S. Alo, Vince Ryle B. Andrada, Gene Cristine A. Bacanto, Danielle D. Brillo, and Shem Joshua B. Inion. Their entry earned the top distinction in both the 3D Walkable Topographic Map and the Agora de Capiz/Agora Forum Plaza categories.

For their achievement, they received a plaque of recognition, a total cash prize of Php 50,000, and a six-month guaranteed contract with the Capiz Provincial Government. Meanwhile, each participating group was awarded certificates of participation and a consolation prize of Php 15,000.

The panel of jurors who evaluated the entries and helped the Capiz Provincial Government in selecting the winners included Mr. Alphonsus D. Tesoro, Provincial Tourism Officer; Mr. Wilar C. Delos Santos, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator; Atty. Luvim D. Amores, Provincial Information Officer and Concurrent Head of the Provincial Human Resource Management Office; Ar. Edver Francisco, Architect II at the Provincial Engineer’s Office; Engr. Edwin Villasis, Acting Provincial Engineer; Engr. Leonardo O. Peral, Architect IV at the Provincial Engineer’s Office; Engr. Vicente Ong III, President of Blue Chip Builders Inc.; Mr. Rio C. Garcia, Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer; Mr. Ferdinand Caberoy, Head of the Provincial Procurement Management Division; Mr. G. Antonio T. Arbis, Provincial Budget Officer; and Mr. Francisco D. Dariagan, Head of the Provincial Internal Audit Service Office.

During the ceremony, the Capiz Provincial Government expressed its gratitude to Ar. Jico C. Monte, Infrastructure, Architectural Planning and Design Chairperson of the Roxas City Main Campus, who served as the competition’s technical consultant. The same appreciation was extended to the University, represented by Dr. Campos, for its continued support and collaboration with the provincial government’s development initiatives.

Through initiatives such as this competition, the Capiz State University and the Capiz Provincial Government continue to strengthen their collaboration in nurturing young professionals and encouraging innovative ideas that support the sustainable development of the Province of Capiz. | via Atty.
