Resilience in Action: CAPSU holds Transformative Training and Team-Building in Boracay

The Capiz State University (CAPSU) convened its administrative personnel in Boracay Island for a series of training sessions focused on building resilience and promoting inclusivity in the workplace. The event, titled “Resilience in Action: Training on Stress Management, Burnout, and Gender Bias in the Workplace Through Team Empowerment,” was held on August 21-23, at the Meeting Room, Altabriza Resort Inn., and organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office in partnership with the Human Resource Development and Training (HRDT) Office.

In his message, University President Dr. Efren Linan described the activity as a step toward meaningful change within the institution. “This activity is about transformation. We want to see attitudinal and behavioral changes in our workplace and ultimately create a more inclusive, gender-equal, and effective organization,” he said. Dr. Linan also stressed that while artificial intelligence continues to shape modern work, it is “genetic intelligence,” meaning the human ability to act with empathy, gentleness, and love, that should guide decision-making.”

The training sessions featured lectures delivered by university resource persons. HRDT Director Dr. Ronilo G. Berondo provided the rationale behind the training, followed by Dr. Caressa Lyn Siglos, Guidance Counselor of Roxas City Main Campus, who discussed “Depression and Anxiety Across Gender.” Prof. Jumar Apoyo, Guidance Counselor of Sigma Satellite College, capped the session with a talk on “Workplace Stress, Burnout, and Gender Roles.”

Beyond the lectures and discussions, admin personnel also engaged in team-building games and activities designed to foster collaboration, camaraderie, and mutual support among the workforce. The day was capped by a fellowship night, providing an opportunity for personnel to further strengthen their bonds.

Through this initiative, CAPSU reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding employee welfare, raising awareness on mental health, and integrating gender-sensitive practices into its organizational culture. By equipping its workforce with strategies to manage stress and promote inclusivity, the university continues to enhance both the well-being of its personnel and the quality of service it delivers to its stakeholders. | via M.J.
