Capiz State University, through its Research Development and Extension Office, conducted back-to-back community services with its clients from Cuartero and Dumalag municipalities.

The twelve (12) barangays in Cuartero were served with the Training on the DNC (Darag Native Chicken) Production, with Dr. Maryneth B. Barrios as the resource person. Dr. Efren L. Linan explained to the beneficiaries that these initiatives are CAPSU’s continuous commitment to forging an innovation ecosystem, where the technologies produced by the academe will reach the communities, as they start to venture into their alternative source of livelihood. Dr. Barrios emphasized the values of love and patience in managing and producing the chickens, which brings good profit among the raisers. This training was conducted at the Covered Gym of Dumalag, Capiz.

On the other hand, the dog parents in Barangay San Jose, Dumalag gained services from the College of Veterinary Medicine faculty and students as they conducted the KBP (Kapon, Bakuna, at Purga) Project, which advocates for responsible pet ownership. This activity allows the VetMed students to apply what they have learned in more practical ways to take care of the animals. This project is being spearheaded by the Program Chair of VetMed, Dr. Leah Ingalla, and Dr. Maryneth Barrios as faculty.

CAPSU RDE Directors Dr. Leo Andrew Biclar (Research Director), and Prof. Jocelyn S. Legaspi (Extension Director), along with Mr. Rector John A. Latoza (University Research Associate) and staff served as the monitoring team in these extension activities.

Dr. Nelinda Duero (Extension Chair, CAPSU Dumarao) and Prof. Jane Tropico (faculty, CAPSU Dumarao) facilitated the said trainings.

These back-to-back community extension services are the kicks off of the university in reaching out the people as it celebrates its 20th Founding Anniversary.
