Capiz State University (CAPSU), through the External Affairs and Linkages Office (EALO), successfully conducted the SEA-Teacher Pre-Departure Training and Cultural Sensitivity and Adaptation Workshop for the 11th Batch SEA-Teacher Student Exchange Program on January 6–8, 2026.
The three-day activity was designed to prepare international teaching mobility participants for deployment to Southeast Asian partner institutions. Conducted in a hybrid format, the first two days were held via Zoom, while the final day took place face-to-face at the CAPSU Central Administration Boardroom.
The workshop focused on strengthening participants’ cultural sensitivity, intercultural awareness, professional conduct abroad, and teaching readiness in multicultural classrooms. Sessions covered intercultural communication, inclusive and bilingual teaching strategies, ICT integration, classroom management abroad, and country-specific cultural orientations, including survival language phrases.
Resource speakers included CAPSU faculty members, SEA-Teacher coordinators, alumni, DepEd practitioners, and invited experts, who shared both technical knowledge and real-world experiences in international teaching environments. Panel discussions and open forums allowed participants to engage directly with mentors and gain practical insights into life and teaching abroad.
The activity aimed to build participants’ professional confidence, communication skills, and global competence, ensuring that SEA-Teacher interns are well-equipped to represent CAPSU with excellence in international classrooms.
