In a vibrant show of unity, collaboration, and rejuvenation, faculty and staff from Capiz State University’s (CAPSU) Mambusao Campus convened for a long-awaited team-building activity in the stunning highlands of Don Salvador Benedicto from September 19–21, dubbed as PAG-HILIUSA 2025: Harmony, Inspire, Lead, Innovate, Unite, Strenthen and Act.

More than fifty faculty members and non-teaching staff members joined the event for a three-day getaway in the cool, pine-forested town known as the “Summer Capital of Negros Occidental.” The goal of the activity was to improve the employees’ relationships with one another as well as to create a productive and cooperative work environment in anticipation of the upcoming academic year.
A Break from Routine, A Boost in Unity
In his opening remarks, Dr. Ramy Lloyd L. Lotilla, Satellite College Director of CAPSU Mambusao, underscored the theme of team-building:
“Our theme PAG-HILIUSA reminds us that no matter how diverse our talents, roles and personalities may be, we are all part of one institution… Pag-hiliusa is our strength, it allows us to overcome challenges, achieve greater goals and create an environment where collaboration thrives.”
Don Salvador Benedicto’s verdant surroundings and tranquil ambiance served as the ideal setting for a variety of enjoyable exercises, introspective meetings, and team-building exercises intended to highlight each person’s unique abilities while highlighting the importance of functioning as a cohesive team.
Activities That Bond and Inspires
A vibrant group of organizers led the program, which featured trust-building activities, team relays, icebreaker games, and a campfire night where participants could exchange thoughts, tales, and laughter. Every task was thoughtfully designed to improve participants’ communication, foster trust, and inspire original problem-solving. Participants were divided into teams, which promoted collaboration across conventional departmental lines.
Beyond Work: Wellness and Well-being
The retreat not only improved teamwork but also provided a much-needed respite for wellness. After months of academic pressures and administrative responsibilities, faculty and staff particularly valued the opportunity to relax in nature, the cold weather, and the expansive views.
The group also took time to explore nearby attractions, including The Ruins and Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, adding a touch of adventure to the experience.
They also dropped by Merzci Piaya Land in Bacolod City for a learning tour. A trip to Merzci Piaya Land combines local culture, culinary traditions, and entertaining instruction to create a singular and immersive experience. Through guided tours of their state-of-the-art pasalubong factory, visitors can observe firsthand how famous Negrense treats like piaya, barquillos, and biscocho are manufactured.
Looking Ahead
As the team made their way back to Mambusao, the CAPSU family felt more united and invigorated. The success of the team-building exercise was determined by the enduring relationships formed and the shared dedication to a better, more cooperative campus environment, not just by the games won or the laughter exchanged.
With spirits up and morale high, CAPSU Mambusao is eager to continue its mission of academic excellence and service by incorporating the lessons learned about unity, trust, and cooperation into its daily operations.
